     Akhmedov was born on February 1, 1951 in Kulyab city, Kulyab region (now Khatlon region) at the working-class family. He successfully graduated the Tajik State Medical Institute named after Abuali ibni Sino in 1975. After completing the internship (1976) from 1976 to 1977 he worked as a local therapist at the city clinic of the Kulyab city. In a short period, in addition to medical practice, he also showed his organizational skills. In connection with this, he was appointed head of the department of the ambulance station at the city clinic of the Kulyab city.

On his initiative, in 1979, an emergency medical care station was created within the structure of the health department of the Kulyab city. Subsequently, with the emergence of a city emergency medical station in the structure of the health department of the  Kulyab city, he was appointed chief physician of this station, where he worked until 1984. In 1984, by the way of transfer, he was appointed chief physician of the Republican Hospital of the 4th Main Directorate under the Council of Ministers of the Republic, which located in the Kulyab city, where he worked until 1987.From February 1987 to July 1987, he took a special training course in Moscow, which organized by the World Health Organization for senior healthcare personnel of the republic. After that in 1987, through a electing on an alternative basis, he was elected to the position of the head of the health department of the executive committee of the  Kulyab city. Subsequently, in 1987, by way of transfer, he was appointed to the position of first deputy head of the health department of the executive committee, newly organized in the Khatlon region. After the liquidation of the Khatlon region in 1990, from 03/15/1990 to 09/03/1990 he worked as a deputy head of the Health Department of the Kulyab region. In 1990, on an alternative basis, he was elected people's deputy of the Supreme Council of the Tajik SSR of the 12th convocation from polling station No. 159 "Javonon" in Kulyab. The leadership of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, taking into attention  the high organizational skills of A. Akhmedov, in 1990 appointed him Deputy Minister of Health of the Tajik SSR. In November 1992, at the 16th historical session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, which took place in the Khujand city, he was elected as a Minister of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan. He fruitfully worked in this post until January 18, 2003. A. Akhmedov directed his activities towards reforming of the healthcare sector of the republic. During the difficult period for the republic, he sought to strengthen the material and technical base of medical institutions, provide them with highly qualified personnel, create the teaching and scientific potential of the industry, and organize the development of scientific research. During his activities as the Minister of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan, he visited all cities and districts of the republic to provide practical assistance to the country’s treatment and preventive institutions. On his initiative, a city infectious diseases hospital, a Regional Oncology Center and a Regional Center for Forensic Medical Examination, a city ambulance station with a hospital in the Kulyab  were built and put into operation, the central district hospital in the Baljuvan district, the infectious diseases hospital in the Gissar district, the maternity hospital in the city of Istaravshan, the surgical center at the Dangara, Central Clinical Hospital, part of the Central Clinical Hospital under construction in Jilikul, the Shurobod Central Clinical Hospital. According to the World Bank project, all the buildings of the Health Centers of the Dangara and Varzob districts also were realized. In addition, the State Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medical Services of Dushanbe, the Central Clinical Hospital and clinics of the Temurmalik district, the Central Clinical Hospital of Ishkoshim, the surgical department in Varzob, the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ayni district, the department of infectious diseases of the Fayzoboda Central District Hospital and other facilities were completely renovated and put into operation. Taking into attention of world standards, the forensic medical examination department at the Republican Psychiatric Hospital was rebuilt and put into operation in Dushanbe.With the direct leadership and support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, he provided the Republican Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Surgery, the City Clinical Hospital of the City of Dushanbe and the Republican Clinical Center for Cardiology with expensive foreign-made diagnostic and treatment equipment (1999). A. Akhmedov is not only an active organizer, but he also a productive scientist. In 1996, he defended his Ph.D. research work and in 2000 received the academic title of associate professor. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 2000 in Moscow, Russian Federation. In 2001 he received the academic title of professor.From July 5, 2003 to May 5, 2015, A. Akhmedov worked as the rector of the Institute of Postgraduate Education in the Field of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan. He began his activities by strengthening the legal framework of the institute. The Charter of the Institute was developed (2004), which was registered in the prescribed manner with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan.On the initiative of A. Akhmedov, in 2004 the institute was certified for the first time by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tatarstan. New departments and courses were introduced into the structure of the institute, and branches of the institute were created in  Khujand city, Sughd region, and the city of Kurgan Tube, Khatlon region. For the first time in the republic has been realized distance learning at the Institute of Postgraduate Education in Health Care of the Republic of Tajikistan.All offices of the Institute and the departments are provided with computer equipment. In order to improve the quality of the educational process, new methods have been introduced to determine the level of knowledge of students, including a test exam and an OSСE exam. The Institute has opened a Center for Evidence-Based Medicine.From 06/30/2016 to 12/31/2019 he worked as a head of the department of medical, veterinary, pharmaceutical sciences of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.From January 3, 2020 to the present, he has been working part-time as a leading specialist in the medical department of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.From September 2, 2020 to the present, he has been working as Vice-Rector on Science and Innovation at the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan.Under his leadership, 8 doctoral and 34 candidate dissertations were defended, including various issues of healthcare reform in the republic. He is the author of more than 323 scientific papers and 9 monographs.

      Alamkhon Akhmedov at the 51st session of the WHO European Region (10-13 September 2000, Madrid), was unanimously elected as a full member of the standing committee of the WHO European Region, and at the 52nd session of the WHO European Region (16-19 September 2002 Copenhagen) - Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the WHO European Region.

In 2002, in connection with the complete elimination of cerebral palsy in the republic, Alamkhon Akhmedov was awarded a WHO Certificate.

Taking into account his merits, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in 1999 awarded A. Akhmedov the honorary title “Honored Worker of Tajikistan.”

 

       Research and publishing work carried out at the Non-State Educational Institution "Medical - Social Institute of Tajikistan" consists of the following activities: the creation of scientific projects of a fundamentally innovative nature, using modern research methods, scientific and methodological and innovative and innovative activities, makes a worthy contribution in the development of medical science. Inventions and innovation are one of the important activities of the Institute's scientists. The implementation of the plan “Program of innovative development of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2011-2020”, “Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of science and technology for 2015-2020” and solving the problems of the sphere of medical science of the republic plays an important role in the non-governmental educational institution “Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan”.
  Scientists of the institute conduct research work on priority branches of medical science for the republic, which covers 17 initiative scientific department topics. The results of research works are published in monographs and journals included in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. In addition, scientists are published in scientific journals of other universities of the Republic of Tajikistan and in the countries of near and far abroad, which contributes to a wider use of scientific results.
