The activity of the department was established in 2023-2024 in accordance with the Regulations on the Department of Higher Professional Educational Institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan (Resolution of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 30, 2017 No. 3/13) On approval of the Regulations on the Department of Higher Professional Educational Institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as in accordance with the Charter of the NEI "Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan”, the department's work plan and rector's order No. 04-36. Dated on 27.01.2022.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is located on the sixth floor of the clinic NEI “Medical - Social Institute of Tajikistan".

Currently, 6 teachers work at the department, of which 3 are main teachers, and 3 are external colleagues-teachers.

At the department, teachers teach subjects of obstetrics, gynecology and the work of a nurse in the field of obstetrics and gynecological diseases. Classes are held mainly in the building of the clinical, scientific and educational center at the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan, as well as cyclically in medical institutions of the republic, the Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, in the Istiklol medical complex and in the Central Medical Hospital No. 1 named after Akhmedov Karim.

Teachers at the department use modern effective teaching methods and techniques for classes and attracting students to study. Multimedia slides, video tutorials and electronic whiteboards are used for greater assimilation of educational materials in practical classes and lectures. The topic of the lesson will be presented in the dummies. Students also learn from banners, dummies and prepare for classes by separate bodies.

The department regularly holds open and exemplary classes and subject clubs with the active participation of students.
