HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The activity of the department has been established since June 10, 2025, in accordance with the Regulations on the Department of Higher Professional Educational Institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan (resolution of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 30, 2017, No. 3/13), the Regulations of the department of the NEI "Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan", dated February 1, 2023 (No. 01), as well as in accordance with chapter 6 of the working plan of the department and the order of the rector dated June 9, 2025, No. 04-320.
The Department of Psychiatry and Neurology conducts classes in accordance with the curriculum for the following subjects:
- psychiatry, medical psychology;
- sleep medicine;
- pathological psychology;
- neurology;
- supervision;
- sexual disorders;
- prevention of habitual behavior;
- addiction psychology;
- pathopsychological diagnostics;
- psychopharmacology;
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY
The department conducts theoretical and practical classes for students of the faculties of general medicine, medical psychology, social-medical medicine, and dentistry. Teaching is carried out according to the curriculum and, based on the faculty areas, is established in Russian and Tajik languages, and for foreign groups in English. During the classes, teachers use multimedia methods as visual aids and visual materials in the form of posters, psychological drawings, and tests. The following methods are used in the educational process:
- interactive teaching methods;
- watching films and role-playing games with their subsequent discussion;
- independent work of the student;
- independent work of the student under the guidance of a teacher.
Educational and Methodological Activity
During the academic year, the teachers of the department performed the following work:

SCIENTIFIC - RESEARCH WORK
The department operates on the basis of the plan of scientific-research work, development of scientific potential, activation and improvement of qualifications, and attracting talented youth to the fields of science and innovation. During this period, the teachers of the department published 9 abstracts in international and republican conferences and in the journals of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the same time, it is worth noting that for the purpose of implementing the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 31, 2022, No. 148 "On the action plan for the implementation of the State Program for training personnel for the social protection system of the population for the period up to 2030" and creating favorable conditions for the development of intellectual, creative, and research abilities of students, the student scientific club "Farishtai najot" has been established under the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology. This club started its activities in accordance with the order of the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Alamkhon Akhmedov dated November 1, 2025, under No. 04-2026/1. The subject club "Farishtai najot" was established with the aim of improving the quality of education and upbringing of medical specialists, strengthening the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students, studying specialized subjects more deeply, as well as arousing interest in creative activity and scientific research.
The activity of the club is aimed at the formation of a scientific worldview, the development of analytical and conclusion-making abilities, the improvement of language skills, and the enhancement of the level of professional knowledge of students from the faculties of general medicine, medical psychology, dentistry, and social-medical medicine. Overall, the subject club "Farishtai najot" plays an important role in enhancing the development of intellectual and creative potential and the training of well-educated and professional personnel. The continuation of its fruitful activity will create a favorable basis for attracting more students to scientific-research work, active participation in subject olympiads, and the worthy representation of the NEI "Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan" in scientific and educational events.
EDUCATIONAL AND UPBRINGING ACTIVITY
To improve the level of communication between teachers and students, communication with patients during internships, mandatory compliance with the provisions of the Medical Ethics Code, and strengthening continuous moral and legal education among students, discussions are held. The department carries out educational work in accordance with the requirements of the legislative norms of the Republic of Tajikistan:
- Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On responsibility for the education and upbringing of the child" (dated June 20, 2024, No. 2049);
- Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the regulation of traditions, celebrations, and ceremonies in the Republic of Tajikistan" (Parliamentary news of the Republic of Tajikistan, 2007, No. 6, Article 428; 2008, No. 6, Article 448; 2010, No. 7, Article 568, Law of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 30, 2017, No. 1428, August 28, 2017, No. 1461);

Brief information about the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology of the NEI " Medical-Social Institute of the Tajikistan"
The Department of Psychiatry and Neurology was established as an independent department based on the order of the rector of the Non-Governmental Educational Institution " Medical-Social Institute of the Tajikistan" dated June 9, 2025, No. 04-320.
The Department of Psychiatry and Neurology is located on the third floor of the NUI "Tajik State Medical-Social Institute". The department is provided with 2 classrooms. At the same time, teaching for students is conducted in centers outside the main building of the NEI " Medical-Social Institute of the Tajikistan ":
- Clinical, Scientific and Educational Center of the NEI " Medical-Social Institute of the Tajikistan ";
- State Institution "Republican Clinical Narcological Center" named after Professor M.G. Gulamov;
- State Institution "Republican Clinical Center for Mental Diseases";
- State Institution "City Narcological Center" of Dushanbe;
- Neurological clinic "Neuromed";
- LLC "Farishtah Rehabilitation Learning Center".
Teachers at the department use active teaching methods for the effective conduct of classes and to attract students to learning. To better master the study materials in practical classes, multimedia slides, video recordings, and an electronic board are used. Also, during classes and other educational events, the department widely uses audiovisual materials. Open and exemplary classes, as well as subject clubs with the active participation of students, are regularly held in the department.
