HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department of “Medical Biology with the Fundamentals of Genetics” was created as an independent department on the basis of the order of the rector of the Non-state educational institution “Tajik Medical and Social Institute” dated January 27, 2022 No. 04-33. Until this time, the department functioned as part of the college as the department of “Biology and Pharmacognosy”.

Since September 2020, Doctor of Biological Sciences Abdurakhmonov N.A. has been appointed to the position of acting head of the department. The department has been operating since its establishment in accordance with the Department’s Work Plan, the Department’s Regulations, Decisions and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science, Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and other regulatory legal acts and Resolutions of the Academic Council and the Office of the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan " The department at the institute is the main center for training scientific and pedagogical personnel in the field of Medical biology with the basics of genetics.

MAIN AREAS OF ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF “MEDICAL BIOLOGY WITH FUNDAMENTALS OF GENETICS”

1. Improving the quality of practical knowledge and skills of students in the field of medical biology disciplines with the basics of genetics, shaping their personality and worldview.

2.Increasing the educational effectiveness of medical biology subjects with the basics of genetics, covering classes using modern teaching styles and technologies.

3.Organization and conduct of scientific and methodological events, scientific and practical seminars, open classes, scientific and practical conferences and seminars).

4. Enrichment of the educational process with the results of the latest scientific research.
5. Preparation of teaching aids and educational literature.

6.Increasing the level of educational, moral, ideological, political and educational work of students.

7.Increasing qualifications and professional retraining of teaching staff.

8. Research cooperation with other state educational institutions and research institutes.

EDUCATIONAL WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT

Teaching biological medicine with the basics of genetics aims to form in the future medical worker knowledge of the fundamentals of medicine, as a science that is most directly related to his professional activity. The subject reveals the basics of general biology and its tasks, the content of preventive health care, the need and practical expediency of measures widely carried out in our country to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. The study of general biology is of great importance for the preparation of a doctor. With the help of biological modeling methods, the mechanisms of occurrence and development of many human diseases are studied, methods of their prevention and treatment are developed, and includes basic issues of general and specific biology. The general biology section reflects current issues of the environment and human life. A special place is occupied by health and safety issues for workers in various sectors of the national economy.

At the department, 1st year students of the medical, dental, pharmaceutical faculties, as well as the faculties of medical psychology and social work in the subject “Medical biology with the basics of genetics”, 3rd and 4th year students of the faculty of psychology study genetics. It should be noted that students are taught in the state, Russian and English languages.

EDUCATIONAL AND METHODICAL ACTIVITIES

To carry out educational work, the department is constantly working on the preparation of teaching aids for students of all faculties. During the functioning of the department, 1 educational and methodological complex and 4 educational programs (syllabuses), new texts of lectures on medical biology with the basics of genetics were prepared for students of the medical, pharmaceutical and dental faculties, as well as bachelors of the faculty of social work. For each discipline, 200 examination tests and 200 examination questions have been prepared for students of medical and pediatric faculties (in 3 languages).

The new programs are compiled in the state, Russian and English languages in accordance with the state educational standard of higher professional education. They define the goals and objectives of the discipline, requirements for the level of mastery of the content of the discipline, thematic plans for lectures, practical classes and a thematic plan for students’ independent work, in accordance with the provisions of the credit education system.

RESEARCH WORK

The department operates on the basis of a research plan in the field of developing scientific potential, enhancing and improving skills, attracting young gifted students to environmental and hygienic science.

         Based on the order of the rector and the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute, dated May 31, 2023 (protocol No. 11/3-2), the departmental theme was approved “The status and prevalence of helminthic diseases among the population of the Republic of Tajikistan and the development of recommendations for their reduction”

At the department in 2023, by order of the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Akhmedov A., a Club of Young Ecologists was created; in April 2023, a thematic club was held on the topic “Nature and We” with a performance by leading students. Also at the department in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and in accordance with the adoption of the fifth proposal of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection. In March 2023. Within the framework of the department, a student conference was held on the topic “Ascariasis among students of the NOU, Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan.” Students, together with teachers of the department, conduct research work, the results of the work are presented in the form of abstracts, reported and discussed at departmental or interdepartmental round tables, and also published in the form of theses and scientific articles. Thus, SSS activists annually participate in conferences of young scientists and students of the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan. The supervisors of the students’ work are the acting head of the department Abdurakhmonov N.A. . and department assistants.

EDUCATIONAL WORK

Educational work is one of the main parts of the department’s activities, which is carried out during lectures and practical classes. Educational work at the department is carried out in accordance with the educational work plan, which is agreed upon and approved by the vice-rector for educational work B.Kh. Okhunov.

The plan of educational work of the department includes the participation of the department in all state significant dates and social and educational events. Educational events are aimed at increasing the level of knowledge and culture of students, as well as expanding their horizons and worldview.

At the same time, educational work is carried out cohesively. Department staff constantly conduct conversations with students about education and compliance with uniform, discipline and internal regulations at the department and at the institute.

At the department “Medical biology with the basics of genetics”, according to the department’s work plan for educational activities, more than 7 different issues were considered. Educational work was carried out on the following topics: implementation of the provisions of the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan: “On the responsibility of parents for the education and upbringing of children”, “On the streamlining of traditions, celebrations and rituals in the Republic of Tajikistan”. At the same time, in educational and methodological groups, teachers carried out propaganda work, conversations and meetings with students on the fight against terrorism and extremism and other undesirable phenomena, and on preventing the involvement of young people in extremist groups.
