2. History of the Department

The Department of Medical Psychology is an academic and methodological structural unit of the Tajikistan Medical-Social Institute. Its work focuses on developing psychological education, improving the teaching of psychology-related disciplines, and building students’ professional competencies.

According to the available information, the Department was established by the founder’s Order No. 04-1 dated 3 August 2020. In the following years, its teaching, educational-methodological, research, and student-development activities continued to expand.

In 2022, the student research club “Nabzi Ravonshinos” (“Pulse of Psychology”) was established to develop students’ research skills and encourage their participation in academic work.

During 2023–2025, particular attention was paid to developing working curricula, syllabi, teaching and methodological materials, and practical classes. According to the information provided, the Department has operated as an independent structural unit since September 2025.

As of 28 August 2026, the disciplines Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Perinatal Psychology were assigned to the Department. Position: Acting Head of the Department of Medical Psychology since 26 August 2026.

Professional qualifications: physician specializing in internal medicine, clinical psychologist, and professional coach.

Main professional areas: medical and clinical psychology, psychosomatics, psychological counselling, stress prevention, and psychological support.

Teaching responsibilities: Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology.

The Department’s teaching staff contribute to the delivery of educational programmes, the development of teaching and methodological materials, and research activities.

7. Teaching and Methodological Activities

The Department’s teaching and methodological work aims to improve the teaching of psychology disciplines, develop students’ practical competencies, and support the educational process with up-to-date learning materials.

Tests and psychological games were developed for practical classes.

Achievements in 2025–2026

In August 2026, the Department’s teaching and methodological documentation was reviewed. Syllabi were revised, and lecture materials, practical-class materials, tests, case-based assignments, and resources for students’ independent work were prepared.

According to the information provided, Department Meeting Protocol No. 1 dated 26 August 2026 approved syllabi for nine disciplines: Clinical Psychology; Psychology of Extreme Situations; Developmental Psychology; Experimental Psychology; Emergency Psychological Assistance; Statistical Methods and Mathematical Processing of Psychological Data; Forensic Psychological Assessment; Perinatal Psychology; and Neuropsychology.

10. Student Research Club “Nabzi Ravonshinos” (“Pulse of Psychology”)

The student research club “Nabzi Ravonshinos” was established under Order No. 04-516 of the Rector of the Tajikistan Medical-Social Institute, dated 19 September 2022.

According to previously published Department materials, the club held student conferences, quizzes, and round-table discussions. Topics included the impact of the internet on adolescents’ psychological characteristics, psychological rehabilitation, psychological support for people affected by traumatic events, and psychological defence mechanisms.

The resumption and systematic organization of the club’s activities are planned for the 2026–2027 academic year. Its main objectives are to engage students in research; develop skills in using scientific literature; teach the fundamentals of psychological research methodology; prepare presentations and abstracts; organize academic discussions; prepare students for conference participation; and develop research projects.
