History of the department

The Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology was organized in September 2022.

The department was organized under the leadership of DM, Professor Saidbek Sattorov, who currently heads the department.

Educational and methodological work

Every year, before each academic semester, a plan of lectures and practical classes for students of all faculties is draw up and approved by the Vice-Rectors for Academic Affairs of the university.

Modern methodological approaches to teaching and control are widely used in lectures and practical classes. The methods of conducting practical and lecture classes are constantly being improved.

To improve the quality of educational and methodological work and the level of knowledge of students, the department compiled and published methodological recommendations and manuals on microbiology, virology and immunology for students of all faculties in the state, Russian and English languages.

Work programs (Syllabus) for all faculties in Russian, Tajik and English have been developed and approved.

There is a sufficient selection of educational materials for mastering the subject in both Russian and Tajik languages. These are the main textbooks: “Microbiology, Virology and Immunology” (edited by L.B. Borisov) and other publishing houses of the Russian Federation in Russian language; textbook “Microbiology, virology and immunology” (general part) in Tajik language compiled by DM, Professor S. Sattorov.

Educational work

The department carries out educational work with students of the Faculty of Medicine. The general plan of educational work of the department and the work plans of each teacher-supervisor are approved at a meeting of the department.

According to the plan for educational work, each teacher-supervisor meets weekly with his supervisory group.

Every day, conversations are held with students about extremism and terrorism, correct behavior in public, the ethics of communication and addressing other people, and the manner of dressing. Particular attention is paid to students attending practical classes and lectures. If a student is absent from class for a valid reason, it must be immediately made up.

Scientific theme of the department: “Study of antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and immunostimulating activity of endemic medicinal plants of Tajikistan”

Employees of the department have published more than 300 scientific papers in Russian, Tajik and English languages. Including 2 works in SCOPUS journals.

Student Scientific Society

There is a SSS at the department. The supervisor of the SSS is the assistant of the department Mirzoeva F.D. Students, members of the SSS, based in the laboratory of the department, study the antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties of endemic plant species growing in our country.

Students report the results of their research at scientific conferences, both within our country and at scientific events organized outside the Republic of Tajikistan.
