HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Since its establishment, the Department has been working in accordance with its work plan, the Statute of the Department, decisions and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and other relevant legal documents, as well as decisions of the Council of Scientists and the Board of the Medical and Social University of Tajikistan. The department at the institute serves as the primary training ground for highly qualified personnel in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. The Department of General, Inorganic, Bioorganic, Analytical, Biological, Physicocolloid and Toxicological Chemistry was established as an independent department based on the order of the Rector of the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan (NOU) on 27th January 2022 (№ 04-28). The department operates according to the 2023-2024 work plan. The department currently teaches the following subjects:

General chemistry, biological chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, toxicological chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry.

At the department students are taught by 15 experienced teachers, including 9 candidates of chemical sciences, 1 candidate of pharmaceutical sciences and 3 applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

The department has two chemistry laboratories where teachers conduct practical classes. The laboratories are equipped with chemical reagents.

MAIN DIRECTIONS OF ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT "GENERAL, INORGANIC, BIOORGANIC, ANALYTICAL, BIOLOGICAL, PHYSICOLOGICAL AND TOXICOLOGICAL CHEMISTRY"

1. Improvement of the level and quality of knowledge and practical skills of students in the field of chemistry and pharmacy, formation of their personality and outlook.
2. To increase the effectiveness of the teaching of chemistry and pharmacy through the use of modern teaching methods and technologies.
3. Organisation and implementation of scientific and methodological events, scientific and practical workshops, open and selective trainings, conferences and seminars, scientific weeks, etc.
4. Enriching the educational process with the latest scientific research results.
5. Preparation of manuals and teaching aids.
6. Improving the level of educational, moral, ideological-political, and educational activities for students.
7. Professional development and retraining of teachers.
8. Research cooperation with other state educational institutions and research institutes of the Republic of Tajikistan.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT

      The Department of General, Inorganic, Bioorganic, Analytical, Biological, Physicolloid and Toxicological Chemistry aims to develop the medical workers' knowledge of the basics of chemistry as a science directly related to their professional activity. First and second-year students of the Faculty of Medicine, second-year students of the Faculty of Stomatology and Pharmacy, and students of the Faculty of Social Work and Medical Psychology study subjects such as general chemistry, biology, physical chemistry, inorganic and analytical chemistry. Additionally, third-year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy study pharmaceutical and biological chemistry. It should be noted that students are taught in the state and Russian languages by teachers with higher education and high professional qualifications.

EDUCATIONAL AND METHODICAL ACTIVITY

          In order to carry out educational activity the department constantly works on the preparation of educational-methodical manuals for students of all faculties. In recent years, the department has published new lecture courses with updated patterns and working programmes. These courses form the basis of professional medical education. The new programmes have been prepared in both the state and Russian languages in accordance with the state standard of higher professional education of the Republic of Tajikistan. They determine the goals and objectives of the discipline, requirements for mastering the content of the discipline, thematic plans of lectures, practical and experimental (laboratory) classes, thematic plan of independent work of students in accordance with the provisions of the credit system of education. During the years of activity of the chair 8 curricula (syllabuses), texts of lectures on chemistry for students of medical, pharmaceutical, dental, medical psychology and social work faculties were prepared in the state and Russian languages. The department has prepared 400 intermediate tests and 250 examination questions for students in each subject of the mentioned faculties.

SCIENTIFIC - RESEARCH ACTIVITY

In order to improve the quality of education of specialists of medical and pharmaceutical profile, to stimulate creative activity in scientific research and conclusions, to deepen the study of individual profile subjects, to consolidate theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired by students during the study of individual subjects, as well as in pursuance of the order of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated 31st January, 2000 (under No. 1445) on the announcement of "Twenty-year programme for the study and development of natural, scientific, exact and mathematical subjects in the fields of medicine and pharmacy". The department has a scientific club called "The World of Chemistry", which works according to an annual work plan and has 9 teachers and 20 students as members. The work plan of the club was approved by the Vice Rector for Science and Innovation, Corresponding Member of NAST, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A. Akhmedov.

Due to the activities of these clubs, students from the institute consistently achieve high rankings in national and international Olympiads, as well as the «Ilm-Furughi Ma'rifat» competition.

Currently, the chair has formed its Olympic team. It should be noted that the department's Olympic team participates in national and international competitions annually and has achieved prominent rankings.

The International Online Olympiad in Chemistry was held at the National University of Tajikistan. 50 higher professional education institutions from 7 countries took part in the Olympiad, and the students took prominent places, and among the 20 best higher professional education institutions our institute took the 5th place.

Alisha Burkhonova, a second-year student of the Faculty of Stomatology, received a diploma for taking third place at the «INTERNET» International Olympiad in Chemistry held at the National University of Tajikistan.

From 15 to 16 December 2023, Samarkand State Medical University hosted the 'Samarkand-2020' international competition for students of higher medical schools, both online and offline. The department's Olympic team participated and received a certificate.

The department's scientists focus on developing manuals and teaching aids in the natural sciences. They have published 2 patents for author's certificates, 3 monographs, 4 textbooks, and 6 teaching aids.

The department's lecturers prepared the following textbooks: Saidov N.D., a Candidate of Pharmacy, authored four textbooks: 'Quality Standards of Medicine' (Dushanbe ER-Graph, 2020), 'Pharmaceutical Technology' (Dushanbe ER-Graph, 2020), 'Toxicological Chemistry' (Dushanbe ER-Graph, 2021), and 'Laboratory Work' (Dushanbe ER-Graph, 2023). The total number of pages is 413. Other chemistry textbooks include 'Set of Examples and Problems in Chemistry' by Kholov M., 'Olympic Tasks in Chemistry' by Boboev Y., and 'Solutions of Examples and Problems from Inorganic Chemistry' also by Boboev Y.

EDUCATIONAL WORK

At the department of 'General, Inorganic, Bioorganic, Analytical, Biological, Physiccolloid and Toxicological Chemistry', work is carried out according to the educational activity plan prepared by the Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences B.H. Ohunov. Educational work is carried out on the following topics: implementation of the provisions of the laws of Tajikistan: "On the responsibility of parents in the education and upbringing of children" and "On the regulation of traditions and holidays and rituals in Tajikistan". In classrooms, teachers hold meetings with students to discuss the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as other undesirable phenomena. The aim is to prevent young people from joining extremist groups through campaign activities, talks, and meetings. In all academic groups, teaching hours are dedicated to family education, communication etiquette, the concept of beauty, and promoting visits to historical sites and shrines in Tajikistan.
