DEPARTMENT HISTORY

The Department of Pediatric Surgery, Topographic Anatomy, and Operative Surgery was established as an independent department on June 25, 2025, based on Rector's Order No. 04-323 of the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan.

Since its establishment, under the leadership of Head of Department Sh.J. Yakhshibekov, the department's main academic and methodological activities have been developed, clinical sites and modern approaches to teaching have been defined. Since its establishment, in accordance with the department's work plan, department regulations, decisions and orders of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, and other regulatory documents and decisions of the Academic Council of the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan, the department has successfully achieved its goals.

The department focuses on integrating fundamental knowledge in topographic anatomy and operative surgery with the clinical aspects of pediatric surgery, ensuring continuity in theoretical education and practical training for students. During the department's first years, manuals and curricula were developed and implemented, methodological materials were prepared, practical and clinical classes were organized, and research work by faculty and students was initiated.

The department is actively developing, expanding its educational and methodological research activities, participating in scientific and practical conferences, and contributing to the training of qualified medical personnel for the healthcare system of the Republic of Tajikistan.

MAIN AREAS OF ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT:

- Improving the level and quality of students' knowledge and practical skills in pediatric surgery, topographic anatomy, and operative surgery, shaping their personality and worldview;

- Improving the educational effectiveness of subjects, including teaching using modern methods and instruction;

- organizing and conducting scientific and methodological events, scientific and practical seminars, open and selective trainings, conferences, and workshops;

-enriching the educational process with the latest scientific research;

-preparing methodological guidelines and educational literature;

-improving the level of students' academic, moral, ideological, political, and educational activities;

-advanced training and retraining of teachers.

DEPARTMENT EDUCATION

Classes are held primarily in the building of the Clinical, Scientific, and Educational Center at the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan, as well as at the Istiklol Medical Complex in Dushanbe.

The department's faculty uses modern, effective teaching methods to deliver effective classes and actively engage students in the learning process. To enhance learning, multimedia presentations, videos, and whiteboards are used in practical classes and lectures.

The department is attended by third-, fourth-, and fifth-year students majoring in General Medicine, as well as students from the Faculty of Dentistry studying Pediatric Surgery, Topographic Anatomy, and Operative Surgery. Students are taught in the official languages of Tajik, Russian, and English.
