Department of Epidemiology with Occupational Pathology
Department Base
Currently, the department employees of 2 Doctors of Medical Sciences, 2 Candidates of Medical Sciences, and 3 assistants. The department staff consists of 7 external part-time employees with teaching experience ranging from 5 to 40 years.
The department operates on the basis of the State Institution "Tajik Research Institute of Preventive Medicine" which has one lecture hall equipped with a projector and an interactive whiteboard, as well as two study rooms equipped with visual aids and interactive whiteboards (including stands, tables, chairs, computers, etc.). In addition, two study rooms are used at the State Institution "Republican Clinical Center for Occupational Diseases" where two instructors teach the discipline "Occupational Pathology."

The scientific and consulting work of the Department of Epidemiology with Occupational Pathology is carried out at the State Institution "Tajik Research Institute of Preventive Medicine" and the State Institution "Republican Clinical Center for Occupational Diseases."
History of the Department
The Department of Epidemiology with Occupational Pathology is a structural unit of the NEI "Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan" and was established in July 2024 on the basis of the State Institution "Tajik Research Institute of Preventive Medicine" according to order No. 04-352 dated July 1, 2024. The department was formed based on an agreement between the NEI "Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan" and the leadership of the State Institution "Research Institute of Preventive Medicine of Tajikistan."
Since the establishment of the department to the present day Ruzizoda M.M., Doctor of Medical Sciences, has been the acting head of the department.
In the first academic year, 5 specialists (assistants) worked in the department, including Ruzizoda M.M. (acting head of the department) and other instructors.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the department taught:
- 9 groups of 5th-year students from the Faculty of General Medicine
- 19 groups of 4th-year students from General Medicine
- 15 groups of 4th-year students from Dentistry
- 4 groups of 3rd-year students from Medical Psychology
- 2 groups of 2nd-year students from Social Medicine
In the 2025-2026 academic year, the department taught:
- 19 groups of 5th-year students from the Faculty of General Medicine
- 24 groups of 4th-year students from General Medicine
- 22 groups of 4th-year students from Dentistry
Classes for 4 groups of 3rd-year students from Medical Psychology and 2 groups of 2nd-year students from Social Medicine are planned for the 2nd semester.
Students are taught in accordance with the Regulations on the Credit-Module System of Education.
Educational Work of the Department
Educational work is one of the most important areas in youth development. Continuous work is carried out with students of medical and dental faculties in the spirit of patriotism and humanism, with a special emphasis on observing etiquette and prevention.
Before the start of classes, department faculty members hold discussions with students on norms of behavior and morality, speech culture, extremism and terrorism prevention, anticorruption, appropriate dress code, class attendance, and other issues.
Research Work
Over the two past years, department staff has published 4 abstracts in the journal Proceedings of the annual (72nd) scientific and practical conference "New Horizons in Medical Science, Education and Practice" with international participation, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the State Educational Institution "TSMU named after Avicenna". Simultaneously, department staff participated in conferences, forums and symposiums both in Tajikistan and abroad, including at the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University and others.
Scientific activity of the faculty plays an important role in the department's work. The department operates in accordance with the institute's scientific plan for developing scientific potential, activating and improving qualifications, and attracting talented young faculty members and degree candidates.
The results of the research work of the department's faculty are regularly used in the daily educational activities of students.
