HISTORY

of the Department of General Chemistry of the NEI “Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan”

The Department of General Chemistry was established as an independent unit based on the order of the rector of the NEI “Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan” dated July 25, 2024 No. 04-377.

The Department of General Chemistry is located on the third floor of the NEI “Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan”. The department has four classrooms and one chemistry laboratory. All classrooms are equipped with visual teaching materials.

Since its establishment, the department has been functioning in accordance with the Department's Work Plan, the Department's Regulations, the decisions and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as other regulatory legal acts and decisions of the Academic Council of the NEI “Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan”. The department serves as the main base of the institute for training highly qualified personnel in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. This department operates in accordance for the 2025-2026 academic year. Currently, the following subjects are taught in the department:

General Chemistry; Organic Chemistry; Inorganic Chemistry; Analytical Chemistry; Physical and Colloid Chemistry; Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

The department has 8 faculty members, including 2 PhD holders in Chemistry and 6 lecturers.

The department has a chemistry laboratory where the faculty conduct practical classes. The laboratory is equipped with chemical instruments and reagents.

MAIN AREAS OF ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL CHEMISTRY

Improving the level and quality of students' knowledge and practical skills in the fields of chemistry and pharmacy, as well as shaping their personality and worldview.

2. Increasing the effectiveness of teaching chemistry and pharmacy by incorporating modern teaching methods and technologies into the educational process.
3. Organizing and conducting scientific-methodological activities, scientific-practical seminars, open demonstration classes, conferences and seminars, science weeks etc.

4. Enrichment of the educational process with the results of the latest scientific research.
5.Preparation and publication of textbooks and teaching aids.
6.Raising the level of educational, moral, ideological and civic education and student enlightenment.
7.Advanced training and professional retraining of teachers.
8. Cooperation in scientific research with other state educational institutions and research institutes of the Republic of Tajikistan.

DEPARTMENTAL ACADEMIC WORK

The goal of the Department of General Chemistry is to equip future medical professionals with knowledge of the fundamentals of chemistry as a science, directly related to their professional activities. The department is attended by 1st-year students from the Medical, Dental, Pharmaceutical, Social-Medical and Medical Psychology Faculties in the disciplines of General and Inorganic Chemistry; 2nd-year students of the Pharmaceutical Faculty in Physical-Colloidal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry; as well as 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-year students of the Pharmaceutical Faculty in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. It should be noted that the teaching is conducted in both the State and Russian languages is carried out by lecturers with higher education and high professional qualifications.

EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

To carry out educational work, the department is constantly engaged in preparing educational and methodological materials for students of all faculties. In recent years, the Department's staff have published new lecture courses with new models and syllabuses, which serve as the foundation for professional medical education. New programs are developed in both the State and Russian languages in accordance with the “State Standard of Higher Professional Education of the Republic of Tajikistan”. They define the goals and objectives of the discipline, requirements for the level of mastery of the discipline's content, thematic plans of lectures, practical and laboratory (experimental) exercises and the thematic plan for students' independent work in accordance with the provisions of the Credit Education System.

Over the years of the department's work, 18 chemistry syllabi and lecture texts have been prepared for students of the Medical, Pharmaceutical, Dental, Medical Psychological and Social Faculties in both the State and Russian languages. For each subject, the Department has prepared and compiled more than 400 control tasks for midterm exams and 250 exam assignments for students of the aforementioned faculties.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

In order to improve the quality of training for medical and pharmaceutical specialists, stimulate creative activity in scientific research and formulation of conclusions, deepen the study of certain specialized disciplines, consolidate students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills in specific subjects, as well as to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated January 31, 2020 (No. 1445) on the proclamation of the "Twenty Years of Study and Development of Natural, Exact and Mathematical Sciences in the Field of Science and Education" for 2020-2040, the department regularly conducts open educational and instructional sessions. The department has a scientific circle called "Chemistry for Medicine", which operates according to an annual plan and consist of 6 teachers and 21 students. The order and work plan of the club were approved by the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, an associate member of NIAT, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A. Akhmedov. The result of this club's activities is that the institute's students annually take prominent places in national and international competitions, as well as in the competition (Ilm furugi ma'rifat).

Currently, the Department has an Olympiad team. In this regard, it should be noted that the department's Olympiad team participates in national and international competitions and annually takes prominent places.
The development of textbooks and teaching materials in the field of natural sciences is one of the main tasks of the Department's Scientists, as a result 3 monographs, 4 textbooks and 6 teaching aids have been published.
The department's teachers have prepared the textbook "Analytical Chemistry" (author I.M. Nizomov PhD in Chemistry) and the teaching aid "Organic Chemistry" (authored by Saifulloyeva M.H.).

EDUCATIONAL WORK

The Department of General Chemistry operates in accordance with the academic work plan, agreed upon and approved by the Vice-Rector for Education, M.L. Ubaydullozoda. The work process is carried out on the following topics: implementation of the provisions of the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan: "On the responsibility of parents in the upbringing of children", "On the regulation of traditions, holidays, and rituals in the Republic of Tajikistan". Simultaneously, in the study groups, teachers hold discussions with students on the relentless fight against terrorism and extremism and other undesirable phenomena, prevention of youth joining extremist groups, as well as conversations and meetings. In all study groups, lessons are held on family education, etiquette and communication psychology, as well as aesthetic education, including visits by students to historical and sacred sites of Tajikistan.
