On February 1, 2023, in accordance with Order No. 04-351 of the Rector of the Tajik NEI <> the Department of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology began its activities within the Institute’s Scientific and Educational Center.
Currently, the department is located at the State Institution “Republican Center for Eye Diseases.”
The position of Head of the Department is held by the Candidate of Medical Sciences and Distinguished Healthcare Professional in Ophthalmology, Muminozoda Manizha Jumamurod.
TheMission of the Department:
To improving students’ professional competencies and practical skills.
To conducting scientific research activities.
To implement modern scientific innovations into clinical practice.
studying new diagnostic methods for eye diseases and disorders;
teaching the disciplines of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology;
involving students in independent diagnosis and treatment of patients;
enhancing research activities and implementing modern interactive teaching methods;
The department employs 10 faculty members, including one Candidate of Medical Sciences. Five young lecturers under 35 are actively engaged in research and clinical practice.
The total teaching workload of the department amounts to 7,200 hours and is fully distributed among the faculty members.
Student education is conducted according to the curriculum (syllabus) in three languages: Tajik, Russian and English.
The Institute collaborates with two clinical training bases:
State Institution “Istiqlol” Health Complex.
State Institution “Republican Center for Eye Diseases”
At these facilities, students apply their theoretical knowledge in practical clinical settings.
Classrooms are equipped with computers, interactive boards, anatomical models, slit-lamp biomicroscopy devices, visual acuity testing equipment and ophthalmoscopes.
Core disciplines taught at the department include:
“Fundamentals of Eye Diseases”
“Diseases of the Ear, Nose and Throat.”
Scientific research constitutes an important part of the department’s work. Research findings are regularly incorporated into the educational process. Currently, two theses and several scientific articles in the field of Ophthalmology have been prepared and published.
Ideological and Educational Work:
To promote professional culture and civic awareness, regular educational and ideological activities are conducted.
Students, together with faculty members, visit museums in the capital city, hospitals, elderly care centers and children’s institutions.
Regular meetings are organized on topics such as prevention of extremism and terrorism, proper conduct in public places, communication ethics, professional behavior and appropriate dress code.
Special attention is given to students’ active participation in both practical and theoretical classes.
