HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES
The Department of Languages was established by Order No. 04-27 of September 2, 2020 issued by the Rector of the Non-Governmental Educational Institution “Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan”, with the aim of improving the quality of education, enhancing academic activities and training highly qualified specialists who meet contemporary requirements. The establishment was based on Appendix No. 1 of the Academic Council decision dated August 31, 2020, and in accordance with the Charter of the Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan.
Since its foundation, the Department has carried out its activities in accordance with the departmental work plan, the Regulations on the Department, decisions and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, regulatory legal acts and the decisions of the Academic Council and the Administration of the Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan.
Since November 2025, the Head of the Department of Languages has been Davlatzoda Mohsharif Olim, doctor (PhD) in the specialty 6D021300 – Linguistics (6D021302-Comparative-Historical, Contrastive and Comparative Linguistics).
The faculty members of the Department of Languages continuously strive to apply modern teaching methods in teaching Tajik, Russian, English and German. Currently, advanced educational technologies are actively used. The Department employs four Candidates of Sciences (PhD equivalent).
Modern Technologies: Thanks to the improvement of the institute’s material and technical resources, most classes are conducted using modern technologies (computers, projectors and electronic white boards). In addition to core textbooks, supplementary teaching materials are widely used, including audio and video resources, self-assessment test packages, handouts and presentations.
MAIN AREAS OF ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES
- Teaching Tajik and foreign languages (English, Russian and German);
- Implementation of modern teaching methods (CBL – Case-Based Learning; TBL – Team-Based Learning);
- Development of educational programs, syllabi and teaching materials;
- Conducting research in linguistics, translation studies and language teaching methodology;
- Publication of articles in academic journals and participation in scientific conferences;
- Professional development and advanced training of faculty members;
- Research collaboration with other state educational institutions and research institutes.
FACULTY COMPOSITION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES
The Department of Languages includes:
- 2 doctor (PhD) holders — Ubaidullohzoda M. and Davlatzoda M.;
- 1 Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor — Rizoieva G.;
- 1 Candidate of Historical Sciences — Safarov R.I.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, the department staff consists of 14 members, including:
- 8 full-time faculty members — Nodirov A., Shodieva L., Kurbonova T., Mullodzhonova F., Khodjaeva Sh., Ganieva M., Kholikzoda M. and Safarzoda F.;
- 3 internal part-time faculty members — Rizoieva G., Ubaidullohzoda M. and Ahmadzoda F.;
- 3 external part-time faculty members — Safarov R., Nazirova U. and Aksakalov I.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES
The Department of Languages aims to develop students’ language competence and communication skills at the institute level. Its academic activities are mainly divided into four areas: teaching, methodology, knowledge assessment and practical language skills development.
- General Concept and Educational Programs:
- Development of syllabi and curricula for foreign languages and Tajik.
- Implementation of modern teaching methods (CBL — Case-Based Learning, TBL — Team-Based Learning, role-play, project-based learning).
- Preparation of teaching materials: textbooks, presentations, video and audio resources.
- Theoretical and Practical Classes:
- Theoretical classes: grammar, vocabulary, phonetics and stylistics.
- Practical classes: development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills using interactive methods.
- Formation of student groups to promote teamwork and discussion.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Preparation and administration of internal exams: tests, written assignments, presentations and participation in discussions.
- Integration of audio, video materials, and simulations to improve listening and speaking skills.
- Practical Work:
- Translation exercises and analysis of authentic texts (case-based learning).
- Participation in departmental clubs for hands-on practice of language skills.
Students in the first year from all faculties study Russian, English and Tajik languages. Additionally, students of the Medical-Social Faculty are taught German. It should be noted that instruction is conducted in Tajik, Russian and English.
EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES
To organize the academic process, the Department systematically prepares educational and methodological materials for students across all faculties. In recent years, the department’s faculty have developed and published new standard and working programs, forming the foundation of professional medical education.
The new programs are compiled in Tajik, Russian and English, in accordance with the State Standard of Higher Professional Education. They defined:
- the goals and objectives of each course;
- requirements for the level of mastery of the course content;
- thematic plans for lectures and practical classes;
- hematic plans for students’ independent work in line with the credit-based learning system.
Since its establishment, the department has prepared 8 educational programs (syllabi) for students of the Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Dental Faculties, as well as the Faculty of Medical Psychology and the Medical-Social Faculty, in Tajik, Russian and English.
For each course, the department has developed:
- 300 test assignments for intermediate assessment;
- 200 exam questions for the students of the above-mentioned faculties.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, the department staff prepared an educational-methodological package and a working program for the course “State Language” specifically for international student groups.

- the Department conducts its activities based on a research plan aimed at developing scientific potential, stimulating research activity, enhancing professional qualifications and attracting talented young people to scientific work.
- to improve the quality of training specialists in medicine, medical psychology, dentistry, medical-social fields and pharmacy, foster creative engagement in research and analytical work, deepen the study of professional disciplines, and strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the Department established a research club “Guardians and Lovers of Language”. This initiative aligns with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 148 of March 31, 2022, “On the Plan of Measures for Implementing the Comprehensive State Program for Training Personnel in the Social Protection System until 2030.”
- the club was founded on September 5, 2022 (Order No. 04-479a) by the directive of the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Ahmedov A. and operates according to an approved work plan. The topics of meetings and activities are implemented according to a plan approved by the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ahmedov A.A.
- On December 20, 2022 the Russian Language Olympiad was held at the student campus of Tajik National University (Building 10, 1st floor, Russian Center), where students of the Medical Faculty of the NEI “Medical-Social Institute of Tajikistan” actively participated and won prizes:
- Khodjiev Sarabek, 1st-year Medical Faculty student — 1st place;
- Azimova Firuza, 2nd-year student — 2nd place;
- Kurbonova Latifa, 1st-year student — 2nd place;
- Kurbonova Shirinmokh, 1st-year student — honorary mention.
Faculty members of the department have published:
- 2 monographs;
- 6 educational manuals;
- 15 scientific articles;
- 40 conference abstracts presented at international and national conferences, as well as in journals included in the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation and in the Republic of Tajikistan list.
EDUCATIONAL AND UPBRINGING ACTIVITIES
Upbringing activities are one of the main directions of the Department’s work and are implemented through upbringing hours, practical classes, and political-educational readings.
The Department’s educational work is carried out according to a plan coordinated and approved by the Vice-Rector for Educational Work, doctor (PhD) in Philology Ubaidullohzoda M.A. The plan includes the department’s participation in all state events, national races and social-educational campaigns.
Educational activities aim to enhance students’ knowledge and cultural level, broaden their horizons, and shape their worldview. Faculty members regularly hold discussions with students on upbringing, discipline, and compliance with internal rules of the department and institute.
According to the departmental plan, various topical issues are considered during educational activities, with special attention given to the clarification and implementation of the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan, including:
- “On the responsibility of parents for the education and upbringing of a child”;
- “On the regulation of traditions, celebrations, and rituals in the Republic of Tajikistan.”
In student groups, faculty also conduct explanatory talks and meetings aimed at preventing terrorism, extremism, radicalism, and other negative phenomena, and preventing youth involvement in extremist groups.
All student groups participate in upbringing hours on family culture, ethics, communication psychology and aesthetic education. Additionally, events are organized for students to visit historical sites and national shrines of the Republic of Tajikistan.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES NEI “MEDICAL-SOCIAL INSTITUTE OF TAJIKISTAN”
The Department of Languages was established as an independent department based on Order No. 04-27 of September 2, 2020 issued by the Rector of the Institute.
The Department is located on the 5th floor of the institute and has:
- 5 classrooms on the 5th floor;
- 1 classroom on the 4th floor;
- 1 classroom in the main basement area.
Faculty members employ modern and effective teaching methods to conduct engaging lessons and actively involve students in the learning process. During practical classes, multimedia slides, video materials, and interactive whiteboards are widely used to facilitate deeper understanding of the study material.
The department also actively uses audio-visual materials during lessons and other academic events. Regularly, the department organizes open and demonstration classes, as well as research clubs with active participation of students.
