HISTORY OF  DEPARTMENT

Department of "Medical Biology with the Basics of Genetics" was established as an independent department based on the order of the rector of the non-governmental educational institution "Medical and Social University of Tajikistan" dated January 27, 2022 No. 04-33. Until this date, the department operated in the medical collegiate structure as the Department of "Biology and Pharmacognosy. Since September 2024, the acting head of the department has been Associate Professor Bozorov Sh.E., Doctor of Agricultural Sciences.

The department carries out its activities in accordance with the work plan of the department, the Regulations of the department, Resolutions and orders of the Ministries of  Education and Science, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, Resolutions of the Council of Scientists, the Board of the "Medical and Social University of Tajikistan" and other regulatory and legal documents. The department is the main base at the institute for training scientific and pedagogical personnel in the field of medical biology with a genetic basis.

MAIN DIRECTIONS OF ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF “MEDICAL BIOLOGY WITH  GENETIC BASIS”

1. Increasing the level and quality of students knowledge and practical skills in the field of medical biology with the basics of genetics, shaping their personality and worldview.
2. Improving the teaching efficiency of medical biology subjects with the basics of genetics, including classes using modern teaching methods and technologies.
3. Organizing and conducting scientific and methodological events, scientific and practical seminars, open and model classes, conferences and seminars, scientific weeks, etc.
4. Enriching the educational process with the results of the latest scientific research.
5. Preparation of methodological manuals education literature
6. Increasing the level of educational, moral, ideological, political, and educational work of students.
7. Professional development and retraining of teachers.

Scientific and research cooperation with other state educational institutions and scientific and research institutes.

EDUCATIONAL WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT

The teaching of medical biology with the basics of genetics aims to form in the future medical worker knowledge of the basics of biology as a science that is directly related to his professional activity. The course covers the fundamentals of medical biology, its functions, preventative healthcare, and the need and practical feasibility of large-scale measures to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the country's population.

The department teaches 1st-year students of the faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, social work and medical psychology in medical biology with the basics of genetics, and 3rd- and 4th-year students of the faculties of medical psychology in medical genetics. It should be noted that students are taught in the state languages, Russian and English. The department also offers a botany course for 1st and 2nd-year students of the faculty of pharmacy.

EDUCATIONAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES

The department is constantly working to prepare teaching aids for students across all faculties. In recent years, the department's staff has developed new lecture courses, sample and working programs for first-year medical students and undergraduate students, which form the foundation of professional medical education.

The new programs are developed in the Tajik, Russian and English languages, in accordance with the state standard of higher professional education. They define the goals and objectives of the discipline, requirements for the level of mastery of the content, thematic plans for lectures and practical classes, as well as a plan for independent work of students in accordance with the provisions of the credit system of education. Over the years of the department's work, 4 textbooks and curricula (syllabus), lecture texts for students of the medical, pharmaceutical and dental faculties, as well as bachelors in the Tajik, Russian and English languages have been prepared and published. 500 exam tests and 500 exam questions have been prepared for students of medical faculties in the department for each subject.

SCIENTIFIC WORKS - RESEARCH

The department carries out scientific activities based on an approved research plan aimed at developing scientific potential, improving the qualifications of teachers, and attracting talented young people to scientific activities.

According to the decision of the Academic Council of the Tajik Medical and Social Institute dated May 31, 2023 (protocol No. 11/3-2), the scientific topic of the department has been approved: "The state and prevalence of parasitic diseases among the population and the development of recommendations for reducing their level". A plan of measures has been developed to implement the scientific topic of the Department, and in the process of its implementation, it has been established in the direction of training specialists, doctors of philosophy (PhD), doctors by specialty, candidates of science, as well as in terms of the creative abilities of students, postgraduate students, doctoral students and the formation of their civic position. The Nature and Us scientific and technical club was established at the department. In April 2023, a subject-specific event was held on the topic "Lifestyle as a Health Factor" with presentations by leading students. Thematic events were held as part of the declared "International Year of Glacier Protection" in 2025. A student-teacher conference on parasitic diseases was also organized, and its materials were published in the journal "Report of the Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan." Over the past four years, the department has published one monograph, 30 abstracts, and 14 articles in international and national conferences, as well as in peer-reviewed journals.

EDUCATIONAL WORK

Educational work is one of the main components of the department's activities and is carried out through lectures and practical classes. The work is carried out in accordance with the educational activities plan approved by the Vice-Rector for Educational Work, Ubaidullokhzoda M.A. The department's educational plan includes participation in all state events, sports events, and social and educational gatherings. Educational activities are aimed at improving the level of knowledge and culture of students, as well as expanding their horizons and worldview.

As part of the working plan of the Department of Medical Biology with Fundamentals of Genetics, numerous issues related to educational activities are discussed. Explanatory work is carried out on the implementation of the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the Responsibility of Parents for the Education and Upbringing of Children" and "On the Regulation of Traditions, Festivals, and Rites in the Republic of Tajikistan." Teachers hold discussions and meetings with students on the prevention of terrorism and extremism, as well as the prevention of youth involvement in extremist organizations. All study groups hold educational sessions on family education, ethics and psychology of communication, and aesthetic education, as well as organize excursions to historical and cultural sites in Tajikistan.
